The Antica Legatoria Viali, was founded by Giovanni Viali in the late 19th century. The earliest records of the bookbinders date from 1891.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 1997, the business passed to us, Lucia Maria Arena and Hans Rainer Kolb. We spent time with our predecessors learning all the skills of traditional bookbinding from their years of experience. This has allowed us to continue the bussiness in the old-fashioned ways and we can justly claim to be the oldest traditional bookbinders in Viterbo.

By continuing to use the old-fashioned methods, the reputation of our traditional bookbinding has grown. In 2007 we were invited to enter the Northern Lazio Artistic Artisan competetition and we were prize winners.
